Max “Razor” Fairous is an Australian man who worked for an anti-poaching company in China. Max grew up on his family's farm working on the land and with the animals. Due to their farm’s remote location, Max was not formally educated, but homeschooled by his mother. His education prepared him with everything he needed to know to take over the family farm someday.

This all changed when a group of poachers entered their farm to hunt their animals. Max’s father led a group of farm workers and his family to defend the animals against the threat. While they were successful in fending off the poachers that night, it didn’t keep the poaching ring away indefinitely. The poachers returned again, but this time it was not for the animals. They had revenge on their minds. The poachers attacked their farm house killing Max’s father and burning the farm and its lands. Max and his mother moved to China, where he studied and trained to become a game ranger. He was hired by a Chinese anti-poaching company and joined the protection unit tasked with protecting the last remaining tigers in China.

Max was in a nature reserve when the Scourge outbreak started. He led a group of tourists to safety, where they held out in a ranger station until the Chinese military rescued the survivors and escorted them back to Bejing. Max was recruited by The Accord and joined Lenoire’s recon unit.
